HI. I needed to know the approximate date of conception. I had an ultrasound on July 13 and they said I was 5 weeks maybe 6 but the measurements I believe were 13mm which would indicate almost 6 weeks I believe. My question is that if on july 13 I was 6 weeks when was the date I conceived?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Exact date of fertilization and/or conception is difficult to calculate, when pregnancy happens naturally. After ovulation by about 13th day, fertilization takes place within about 5 days and following this, implantation would happen by a week to ten days. However, based on the date of last menstrual period (LMP), weeks of gestation and expected date of delivery (EDD) can be calculated. Ultrasound report suggest gestational age by means of fetal biometry. It may be about. +/- a week as compared to LMP, generally in the initial phases of gestation. However, it coincides with LMP in most of the cases. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
