Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had been on Cymbalta for awhile, then back in Oct Nov Dec felt more depressed, very sad, and anxious. Went to counseling and counselor suggested I change meds. We tried me on Trintellix. It worked great. When I went to have it filled this last time due to the cost of Rx and the high deductible on my Insurance I couldn t afford it, so my MD changed it to Maprotiline. The dosage was too high at first, so it has been reduced. Still feel tired low energy foggy brained. etc. Would it be ok to go back to try and see if Cymbalta would work again, since it has been several months since I have taken Cymbalta? I really do not like the way Maprotiline makes me feel. I have only been on it for approx. 1 week
There are 3 to 4 different group of medicines available for depression. Your treating psychiatrist has tried most of them except SSRI group which is widely used and has very less side effects. You had poor response with Cymbalta with Trintellix affordability is the issue and you are not tolerating Maprotiline. I suggest you to consult your treating psychiatrist and ask if he can start any SSRI group of medicine like Escitalopram for you. I am sure it will help you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
