How Can Diabetes Be Kept Under Control?

My blood sugar level today 1 hour after my normal breakfast was 117. I also drove myself to the office for 1/2 hour during that period. Pls advise on this as I was diagonsed with type 2 diabetes nearly two months ago. I have not yet started any medication so far and controlling it purely by diet and exercise. Abhijeet Mukherjee

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your blood sugar 1 hour after your normal breakfast of 117 is perfectly normal.

I think you should keep following this healthy diabetic diet and lifestyle regimen as you are doing til now.
As per medications you take, I think you should keep monitoring your blood sugar levels, record the results for reference. Then, show them to your caring doctor as you might need some changes in their dose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
