How Can Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramps Be Treated?

I just returned from south east asia and I am having gastrointestinal issues. Not diarrhea per say but very loose skinny stools that are light in color. I was there for three weeks and the symptoms started with diarrhea during the last week of the trip. I do have intestinal cramping on occasion. Is this something that should pass on it own or do I need medication. It is not bad enough to curtail my daily activities.

Diarrhea and abdominal cramps seems to be due to gastroenteritis, food allergies, giardiasis , and could be irritable bowel syndrome. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination and go for endoscopy and stool test. Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , laxative , ornidazole or albendazole. You should take light and non spicy food as of now. Take antacid after every meal, drink plenty of water and take light walk after every meal. You should take small and frequent meals and avoid taking large meals at at time.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
