How Can Difficulty In Urination Due To A Swollen Prostate Be Treated?
My father has prostate cancer and must wear a catheter because prostate is swollen and cannot urinate on his own. Now blood is starting to get in the catheter bag and in his urine. It did this yesterday and stopped and urine was clear. Now he is bleeding again and blood is in his urine and got all over his pants. Is this common? What would you suggest this is and what should we do? Thank you. w

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If your father has confirmed prostate cancer then why have you not got it removed yet? Has your doctor advised you about Prostectomy? You should visit your doctor as soon as possible. Till then he may be given Chromostat injection.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Dr. Varinder Joshi
