Hi,

Diverticulitis is inflammation of the diverticulum and causes pain and swelling in the colon mainly. Treatment includes liquid diet. If necessary, intravenous fluid can be also given. High fiber diet is recommended especially whole green leafy vegetables and fruits.

Antibiotics treatment includes penicillin, Metronidazole or Amoxicillin. Diverticulitis also causes spasmodic pain, so antispasmodic i.e., tablet Doxycycline can be also taken. Take rest during cramps.

I hope I solved your query and I will be here for future help.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat
