How Can Dizziness Caused By Exposure To Paint Fumes Be Treated?
I have been decorating our bedroom, I have used a dulux sealant on a newly plastered ceiling, emulsion paint, gloss paint and wood varnish - I have been suffering for 2-3 weeks, since I started the redecorating, with dizzy spells, particularly when I stand up or look up - what should I do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, your symptoms of dizziness caused by exposure to paint fumes which seems to be due to volatile bleach contents leading to allergic reaction.
They can cause respiratory problem along with nervous symptoms such as headaches and dizziness. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take deep breath in fresh air.
For now, take some fresh air and drink plenty of water. You should consult general physician immediately once for proper examination and to rule out condition like poisoning.
Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug along with antihistamine medicines and can give steroid injection as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
