How Can Dry Cough, Breathing Difficulty And Vomiting Be Treated?

10 yr old male, history of allergies, takes 10 ml of Claritan and Flovent twice daily when symptons arise. Dry cough keeping him awake, Proventil prescribed has little effect, labored breathing, coughing until he vomits, severe anxiety. Cool humidifier in room. Rubbed Vicks on chest back and bottom of feet. Seems more comfortable laying down rather than sitting up. But has to sit up when he coughs and then will throw up and cry. Croupy cough, nothing comes up. No fever. Will drink water.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I can understand your concern. As per your history, he has allergy so cause may be that. Along with medication that you are taking, I would suggest you to take tablet Montelukast and Cetirizine. Give saline nebulization or steam for 2 to 3 times in a day. For vomiting you can take tablet Ondensetron. I would suggest you to consult with and you may require chest X-ray and complete blood count.

Thank you.
