Hi Doctor, my son is African and almost two ... I fear ive lost hope all together . his skin is causing him discomfort and is very dry and patchy ..please help me. ive tried everything . my moms sister did rub her face on him affected with a virus and pus on the outter layer of her face im not sure if she was doing this to cause harm or just exited he was in her arms but he is suffering now
It may be atopic dermatitis with secondary bacterial infection most probably. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. I would recommend to take a course of antibiotic for two weeks.
And steroids may be considered in tapering doses. If there is itching,give him antihistaminics like hydroxyzine HCL tablet at night. Apply antibiotic cream initially to clear infection. Then apply mild steroid cream at night and moisturiser in the morning. Avoid soap bath. Avoid contact with suspected allergens.
