How Can Ear Congestion And Tinnitus Be Treated?

My left ear is clogged up. I had a November sinus cold, throat/cough. Was on a puffer, cough gone. Given nasal spray & used it. Took Sinus tablets for one week. Still hearing hissing, clogged up ear. I pinch my nose & blow & breath to pop it & I hear a high pitch sound as if you popped a balloon with a needle & then there leaves an echo sound in my ear - still clogged. Sometimes eases off during the day, is getting better every week but has not cleared up. Was on antibiotics Amoxicillon - kids dosage for 7 days - 250 mg 3 times a day and have finished that too. Hissing sound periodically thoughout the day as well. It is bothersome, not clearing as fast as I thought it should. Family Dr. states if by mid January it does not heal, to see a hearing specialist as it takes one year to get in to see an ear, nose, throat specialist. ? Should I get an MRI?

Dear patient
you need to consult ear specialist as soon as possible. Your symptoms suggest diagnosis of chronic suppurative otitis media simply means infection of the middle ear. Tinnitus may be due to hearing nerve involvement. Otoscopy and audiometry are the two tests to assess damage to ear membrane and hearing. Meanwhile continue the medications.
