How Can Ear Congestion Be Treated?

I ve had a tough time with an ear infection 7 wks ago and continuously bothered eustachean tubes over ensuing 7 wks. One ear has had myringotomy and tube. The left (Other) ear (over past month) has become Increasingly congested and full. Became Painful week and a half ago so another round of antibiotics (had 2 prior to myringotomy and tube on right ear). I ve tried to really use the Summit Ear popper last 2 days and now my ears feel way worse:(. As if I ve just aggravated them completely. Is it possible to have done lasting damage or will they calm down? This device gets such rave reviews thought for sure a magic ticket. Also I should mention have tried valsalva and chewing gum and you name it. Anything to pop the ears. have had oral steriods. Nasal spray steriods. (Just gave me bad oral thrush that was its own huge issue:() and several rounds of antibiotics. My ears will not go back to normal and it s driving me to distraction.

Hi,

It can be allergic rhinitis. Get your ear checked by ENT specialist. Prohibit head bath and do regular volselum. You can apply Nasibion nasal drop. treatment should be with advise of ENT specialist. Avoid using swimming pool. Plug your ear when flying in a jet. No antibiotic is required and it is allergic and mechanical cause of tube obstruction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
