How Can Ear Congestion Be Treated?

My husband ear is totally blocked with wax buildup. We have tried an oil the man checking his ears (Miracle Ear) plus an otc drop. We just tried a little hydrogen peroxide. Is there any other home items we can try or is it time to make a Dr. Appointment? Thank you!

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of ear congestion which is due to earwax build up leading to ear infection and pressure build up.

I would suggest you to avoid pricking it with any sharp object as it can leads to ear drum penetration and rupturing and you should keep your ears dry. Visit Otolaryngologist once and get it evaluated and start treatment after proper examination.

Get high and low pitched sound tests done and examination with otoscope. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin along with anti-inflammatory medication. You should put Otogesic ear drops 2 to 3 times a day. You should take proper rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
