hi my ears have been plugged for about 3 weeks already. And I went to the Ent specialist and what he prescribed me first was amoxicillin plus clav it’s combain antib plus some anticongestion pills. have been taking them for 10 days and nothing changed. It’s getting even worse. I have a tension earache plus Terrible headache and nosia and dizziness started about a week ago plus feel my ears still clogged and a big pressure inside. I went to the office last Monday and switched to the new Antib it’s called Clarithromicin for 14 days in 12 h plus Laratadine ( kind of allergy dicongetion pills) . I have been taking them since last Monday and nothing seems to be changed. Still have earache ,headache and feel dizziness and I feel like something full my ear with air pressure that this pressure goes into my Brian and I don’t feel good. I feel like I’ll never got my ears unplugged again. any suggestions what that could be lasting so long for above a month??! Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Plugged ears may be due to Eustachian tube blockage, higher altitude, ear wax and acoustic neuroma etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Dear get examined for tympanogram, pure tone audiometry, MRI brain and blood investigations.

Avoid cool drinks and frozen water, avoid smoking and alcohol.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Avoid allergens that cause problem if symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
