How Can Eczema Be Treated?

Hi, my grandaughter (21) has had eczema since childhood. Allergy test show allergies to grasses, dust, cats (not dogs) polkens, etc. Allergy shots were so hard on her body she had to quit. Prednizone works really well but doctors can t let her stay on it full time. She is ALWAYS itching. ALWAYS. She takes bath in coconut oil or oatmeal, but it is only temporary. She is young, married and has a one year old. I believe stress is the factor, but in this day and age, what young married couple with a toddler isn t! Her face gets the worst of it. Always irritated around the eyes because they itch ALL the time. We, the family feel helpless. Any advice how to ease the constant itch? She is such a beautiful girl when not itching. She lives in Austin, Texas. At one time, she lived in Northwest Texas where it was drier, with no trees so no pollen. She is seriously thinking of moving the family back up there, if nothing else works.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain,
