How Can Elbow Pain Be Treated?

I have a twelve year old son that fell forward on his hand while playing Lacrosse. The initial pain in his elbow was pretty severe as he hyperextended it. He is a kid who prides himself in being tough however, he is still complaining quite abit and says he now wants to go to the doctor because the pain will not go away...what do you think??
