How Can Elevated BP Along With Headache Be Treated?
I normally suffer low blood pressure because I have POTS however I ve been feeling unwell since Christmas with headaches and a very bad chest cough that won t go away. My doc took my blood pressure 2 weeks ago and said it was high. Then again yesterday it was 165/100 I have been put on tablets to lower it. Tonight I have checked and it is 162/112 And I have a tremendous headache. What s your advice?
I advise you to visit the Emergency room (ER) immediately for further evaluation and treatment. You may need some additional lab tests such as kidney function tests, ultrasound and blood tests to rule secondary causes of hypertension such as kidney disease, hormonal disorders, and etcetera.
Besides you also need to be evaluated for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and to rule out some underlying causes such as anemia, autoimmune diseases, diabetes or multiple sclerosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
