How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Managed?
i found recently my blood pressure reading is ranging from 130-140 for systolic and 80-88 for diastolic, i have done blood test for cholesterol and also serum test and everything is fine. i have started DASH. i want to know if there are further test i can do to find out out the root cause of this problem as i want my blood pressure to return to normal. am 28 years old African.
A high blood pressure at your age needs proper investigation. Mostly the cause of high blood pressure in young people is due to sympathetic overdrive.
If you have a stressful life, then it is essential to rectify your lifestyle and stress causing factors. I would advise you to also get a blood sugar test and kidney function test done to rule out any other causes.
Keep a track of your blood pressure as if it continues to remain on the higher side you may have to take antihypertensive drugs. Meanwhile, continue with the DASH diet and decrease the salt intake. Maintain a daily exercise routine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma Amman
