How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Treated?

My wife usually has blood pressure 120 over 60. The last couple of days she developed severe nose bleed. She is on blood thinners for previous TIAs. Her nose bleed is now controlled by packing put in by an ER physician. Now her blood pressure is 178 over 99. How concerned should I be?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such high pressure can cause brain stroke. That is why, it should be lowered and it should be done as soon as possible. Her GP doctor should be able to do that with proper medicines. Her kidney function and heart condition should be checked as well.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
