How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Be Treated?
I just checked my blood pressure at a local store that had a BP machine. My pressure came back at 150/91 I checked it again and had almost the same results. On 11/20 I had my BP checked by my doctor and it was 121/70 I have no history of High BP, but my family does and I am a type 2 diabetic that uses metformin. What do I do next?
It would be important to make sure that the size of the cuff at the store was appropriate. IF the cuff is too small for the person's arm, the blood pressure is falsely high. The arm is also supposed to be at heart level when blood pressure is checked.
Because of the wide difference in readings, you should consider having it rechecked, making sure that it is done appropriately. If it is still high when done, then you would need to alter your lifestyle and medication may be needed.
I hope this helps.
