How Can Epilepsy Be Treated?

maybe I am looking for a drug that was given to a pt in prison, he is unstable, seizure wish, he is currently taking phenytoin, he has been unable to get his seizures, under control. I had kepra started, his local health care clinic is unable to get him stable, they use interns for u of iowa, by the time he has found his meds are not working there is a new Dr. We know that generic phenytion is hard to get right, but I need to do something as his seizures are the type that he walks and runs while having them, his older brother died in his sleep and it was found that it was a seizure that caused his death. therefor he is scared, the area has 0 neurologists that take his state medical card, I have him here I need picture of seizure med s he can tell what medication he was on by sight

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

In order to provide him with medicine first, he must have a history, physical exam, and some tests EEG to determine what type of seizure(s) he is having.

Based on this information, the doctor can determine what would be the best anti-seizure medicine(s) for him to take.

Perhaps the doctors-in-training from the University of Iowa can speak to an adult neurologist at the Univ for advice on how to help this person.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
