Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I have been recently told I have a left ear infection. I also believe that my left Eustachian tube is blocked. It is causing me terrible pain and lots of pressure. I have lost 80% of my hearing in my left ear. My mom refuses to take me to the doctor, as I m already on antibiotics for the infection. The blockage has me in so much pain I m crying. I have tried warm olive oil, hydrogen peroxide, polysporin ear drops, ear candling, steam treatments, nasal sprays, and lots of different head movement exercises and breathing techniques. PLEASE HELP!!

How Can Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Be Treated?
Hello, Infection can be the cause of blockage of the eustachian tube. Antibiotics are required for treatment of infection. However, due to the long-standing blockage of the eustachian tube, clinical assessment of the left ear and the eustachian tube will be required. So, I suggest you consult your ENT specialist for clinical assessment. Pain can be controlled by painkillers. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
