How Can Excessive Phlegm In The Throat Be Treated?

I have I have constant thick sticky mucus in my throat, from clear to whatever colour of food I have eaten. I gurgle a lot of the time, and it is hard to cough up. I have had a fundiplication, so should not be reflux. This was to prevent GORD rejection post bilateral lung transplant. Any suggestions as to cure?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take mucolytic agents like NAC.

If symptoms persist, do a sputum culture and start antibiotics accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain,
