How Can Eye Pain Be Treated While Suffering From Shingles?

A family member got shingles on her face and in her eye two weeks ago. Even though she got treatment right away she is still having periods of intense pain in her eye about twice a day. The only thing that seems to help at all is holding an ice pack on her eye. Is there anything else we can do?

Hello,

For symptomatic treatment for pain like tablet Combiflam can be given. An antiviral antibiotic like Zoviraxcan be also be given. If ice pack is giving relief, then you can continue for some time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
