How Can Facial Swelling And Pain Due To Tooth Infection Be Treated?

I have a severe tooth and gum infection for about a week now. I saw a dentist and he prescribed me 300 milligrams of clindamycin 4 times a day I. I have been taking it for about 36 hours now. When should I start seeing results such as the reduction in the facial swelling and the pain?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

If there is swelling due to tooth and gum infection then then it is probably due to tooth abscess formation..
When there is abscess formation many a times antibiotics does not completely reduce infection and swelling, so tooth should be treated for complete relief..
However it can take about a week for swelling to reduce with only antibiotics..
So for now you should keep patience and continue taking medication.
Along with medication you should also do cool compresses..
Once the swelling reduce you should consult your Dentist and get evaluated and get an x ray done..
If possible to save the tooth Root canal treatment should be done otherwise tooth should be removed..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
