How Can Fatty Liver Be Treated?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with a fatty liver. I am a 35 year old currently on suboxone therapy for recovery from serious IV drug addiction problems. I am also on lexapro for severe depression. Are there any really great supplements I could take to prevent further damage. I don t drink, I try not to eat bread or sugar. Just any advice I can get the better maybe regarding what food to eat etc. . Thank you, Caroline B

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fatty liver is mild form of liver disease in which fat accumulate in liver cells. I suggest you to investigate with serum cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL estimation and random blood sugar estimation to do further work up. You should restrict intake of fatty foods, refined food, fried non vegetarian foods, pizza, burger like junk foods. Take Ursodexoycholic Acid tablet.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
