How Can Fecal Impaction Be Treated?

I am 49 years old and eat a very clean, organic diet with plenty of fruits and veggies, exercise 6x a week and I am in great shape but recently had a scan done of mid section due to an ache in the lower left abdomen. The scan found copious amounts of stool in my large intestine (colon). They have me on Miralax but it does seem t be working. Should I be concerned this is something more serious?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can take laxatives like Lactulose for symptomatic relief. Include more fiber-rich foods to your diet.

If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
