How Can Feeling A Lump In The Throat While Swallowing Be Treated?

Hi, Doctor: I have been concerned about a clunk or a thud in my throat when I swallow. It usually doesn t happen when I swallow a liquid, but only when I swallow saliva. When I hold my throat the thud goes away. Also when I turn my head to the right. I have no sore throat or pain when swallowing. What could cause this clunk or thud when swallowing?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be due to GERD or due to infection or due to allergy or due Globus pain syndrome etcetera. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it.

Avoid cold drinks, freeze water, smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week.

Use water vapor inhalation and do salt water gargle thrice a day. If Symptoms not improved, then please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
