How Can Fever Along With Chills And Cough Be Treated?

Yesterday and today I have a mild fever and chills starting in late afternoon and ending by the time I wake up in the morning. In the AM today I felt perfect and worked out heavily (as I do 4 times/week). I am near the end of a mild cold and am still coughing a bit of phlegm. Is this likely just the progress of the cold or could it be something like pneumonia or walking pneumonia. I m 64. I had pneumonia 6 years ago. I noticed then that the fever and tiredness were much worse in the evening. But I still felt tired in the morning, not like this morning. Antibiotics cleared it up quickly.

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of fever along with chills and cough which is because of viral infection to your body and impaired immunity of your body.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day with lukewarm water. Take diet rich in fruits rich in vitamin C as it will boost your immunity.

Steam inhalation is another treatment option for resolving it. Start with combination of Amoxicillin along with Levocetirizine. Avoid taking cold beverages. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start proper course of antibiotics.
