How Can Fever Along With Cough And Headache Be Treated?

I got the flu shot last fall but have flu like symptoms, fever (up to 102.5), cough, head congestion, headache, extreme aches, upset stomach (but no vomiting) and mild diarrhea. Today is the fifth day and I still feel no better. Should I call my doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns.
This sounds like typical flu and you should treat it with nosteroid antipyretics, plenty of fluids, vitamin D and easier diet. However, if cough become productive or there is no improvement in net few days or chest pain occur then it would be good to see doctor and do lung xrays to rule out possible pneumonia. In this case you may need antibiotics. But it would not be good to start with it if this is just viral infection so it should be confirmed by Xrays first.
I hope I have answered you query
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
