How Can Fever And Appetite Loss In An Infant Be Treated?
Should I try a 2nd time to give my 22 month old toddler a powdered drink mix for toddlers? He got sick with fever 3 days ago, and this is the first time he hasn t been drinking all his milk of 19 oz., which has been important for a long time. Is there a step 1 to this? I tried giving him the parents choice next stage, that was a few weeks ago, before getting sick just to have extra boost but need to make other way with quick foods and freezer foods. But this not drinking milk thing is new, and I d like to know what is going on.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
In my opinion, you should definitely take him to pediatrician. Your child is not taking milk (decreased appetite) mostly because of fever. Most common cause for fever in children is infection. And infection can lead to decreased appetite. So better to take him to pediatrician and get done clinical examination and blood reports if needed. He may need antibiotics, anti pyretic and other supportive treatment. Once his infection is under control, he will have normal appetite without fever.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
