How Can Filariasis In The Leg Be Treated?

My dad aged 58 years is suffering from filariasis since his childhood with left leg swelled, he gets fever when a kind of pus comes out of his leg and this was observed in his late 40s. I am looking out for a treatment for my dad. 1. Please advise accordingly of possible treatments and location wise I am from Andhra Pradesh, India. 2. Could this be genetically passed to his kids (me & my brother) as my dad got it from his mother. From last 20 years the whole family stayed together and didnt observe any symptoms in any of us, this was just by observing our own legs and not by any test, could there be any threat?
