How Can Flatulence And Stomach Growl Being Caused Morphine Elixir Be Alleviated?
Hi my husband is terminally ill with COPD and Broncheastis and is on Morphine elixir which has started to give him the most terrible wind. The burps sound to start and the very depths of his stomach and come up on a like a growl and can last quite a few seconds. This makes his breathing much harder. He is on 1.5 oxygen 24/7. Hi welcome to HCM.
Morphine is known for its prominent gastrointestinal side effects.This can be alleviated using drugs like proton pump inhibitors and antiemetics/prokinetics like domperidone.Pantoprazole 40 mg when taken before breakfast and used for 14 days can cause excellent resolution of symptoms.I advice you to use alternative drugs like fentanyl which can have less cardiorespiratory depressant effects.Consult your doctor further care.
