How Can Flatulence Be Treated?

I m a 64 year old woman and would like to know if you can recommend something for embarrassing gas that I have no control over some time? Another question I have is, can you recommend something for constipation? I have never had regular bowel movements. Maybe every 5 days or so. A nurse recommended myralax but all it did was give me gas and did not work. Thank You so much for your help! Brenda

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to excess acid secretions. Consult a physician and get evaluated.

An endoscopy is required for further assessment. As of now, antacids like pantoprazole or omeprazole can be tried for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
