How Can Food Poisoning Be Treated?

Home from Europe on Saturday morning. Ate breakfast Sunday (yesterday) of omelet and potatoes, coffee. Began feeling cramps late afternoon. Threw up my lunch, passed some diahhrea. Still have cramps leading to wanting to have a bowel movement. A few minutes ago I went to the toilet but didn t make it in time, and now have passed only a mucus-like substance, definitely bloody, no stool.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello!

You are having a case of acute gastroenteritis. Most commonly due to the food you might have consumed recently. Kindly keep yourself hydrated with upto 2-3 litres of water daily.

If possible take these medications for 4 days

1. T. Bifilac 1-1-1 after food
2. T. Ciplox-TZ 1-0-1 after food
3. T. Dicyclomine SOS for abdominal cramps
4. ORS - mix in 1 lt water and finish it in 6 hours. for 5 days
5. Plenty of fluids, light on food, no spice
6. Kindly watch for blood in your bowel movements, go to the emergency if it repeats more than twice in the next bowel movements after starting the medications.
