Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have fungal follicultis. I got diagnosed two years ago and it has returned. My doctor prescribed triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.5 percent and cephalexin 500 mg by mouth twice daily. I m also using lotrimin ultra, am,actin alpha hydroxy therapy/ nizoral shampoo/hibickens antibacterial body wash / anti fungal extra thick by smith and nephew/ gold ultra bond psoriasis relief ( all alternatively) My doctor also gave me sames of Vedeso desonide foam. My scalp is where the folliculitis started. I m thinking of putting Lotrimin on my scalp. Nothing is helping me!!! It s spreading like wild fire! I just bought calamine lotion, hoping that will help. The only thing that has given me some relief is Beauty Control corticure comfort lotion. I just ordered a product called Emuaid cream. It has great reviews for folliculitis. I m in tears and about ready to throw in the towel! Nothing is helping! I read taking a bath in salt water or diluted bleach bath water will help. I m trying everything- no relief from the itching!!! Help!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello,
Instead of using so many products, you should go for the proper diagnosis by a skin specialist. In this case, culture and biopsy of the lesion should be done. The whole picture will be cleared.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
