How Can Fungal Infection And Cracks On The Toe Nail Be Treated?
Most of my toe nails are yellow and cracked. From everything I ve read online, it seems to be fungus. Way back my doctor prescribed an over-the-counter medication for external use to apply on the nails. It didn t work. Since then, I ve tried several other medications from the drug store that didn t work either. WebMD indicates I may need anti fungal drugs , but these may hurt my liver, which is a little scary. I was hoping there was truly a external application medication out there, but it doesn t seem like it. What treatment have you recommended to your patients that was the most successful? Thank you.
Many a times if the infection us severe then it has to be treated with oral medicines and for now it looks like the infection in your nails looks pretty severe and it needs to be treated with oral anti fungal medicines..
So my suggestion is to consult a Skin Specialist and get evaluated.
You can be advised a course of antifungal medicines like Itraconazole.. You can also apply a combination of steroid and antifungal medicine.
Along with it soak your feet in peroxide solution in water.
Keep the nails small by trimming then..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
