How Can Fungal Infection In The Groin And Buttocks Be Treated?

My son 14 yrs old has fungal infection on his buttocks, groin and sporadically at various places on his body like back of the neck and feet for last 8 to 10 months. Treated with many anti-fungal creams including betmet. Now the doctor has given Onabet ointment. Slight improvment is visible. My son is feeling itching on his face too..... on side of cheeks. Is it safe to use Onabet cream on the face?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details mentioned. For treating fungal infection only topical applications are not going to help in removing the infection completely. It is essential to take a drug like Fluconazole 150 mg, once a week for a peiod of 8 to 10 weeks., that will help in eradicating the infection. Topical drugs give good results but the effect is temporary. Plus all the inner clothes should be cleaned in boiling water. Oral tablets and local application both have to be continued. For controlling itching a levocetirizine table 5 mg once a day may be used. Thanks
