How Can Fungal Skin Infection Be Treated?

I am on prednisone 14mg daily and have been on this drug for a year. I treated a skin irritation with topical cortisone ointment and then a topical antifunal medication. I now have a painful rash all over my body and am using a topical oil, Fluocinolone acetonide .01% as prescribed by the dermatologist. Ice packs are the only relief I get from the pain. What more can I do? Can I take benerdryl? I am awaiting biopsy results and blood test results.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You can take NSAID like acetaminophen for pain.
You can take benedryl and there are no contraindications for that.
Continue using ice packs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
