How Can Fungal Skin Infection On The Toenail Be Treated?

I had an allergic reaction to Sporanox about 10 yrs ago. Was to take I wk and off for 3wks. After 6 days had eruption of wheels over entire body. Very painful. Treated with Prednisone.Increased Prednisone to 150 mg and back down which was very unpleasant. Tx was for toenail fungus which I continue to have. Some nails are distorted and about a quarter inch thick. The Sporanox was working in spite of the allergy. Topical antifungals used religiously do not work. Would I have automatically sensitized myself to Terbinafine also? Would it be safe to try it? I might note that I am a nurse so do have some medical background. No other health problems at 70yrs.
