Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Gastritis should have by now solved with this time of Omeprazole. When we find gastritis not responding to Omeprazole, we generally refer such patients to gastroenteralogist for evaluation, he may re-scope to see if the gastritis is healed and if not as to what can be the cause. He may also like to test for H Pylori or the possibility of GERD which can cause persistent pain in spite of Omeprazole, hiatal hernia most of the times does not produce symptoms. Your concern of problems relate to prolong use of Omeprazoleis very right and fresh recommendation are that the prolong use of these drugs must not be encouraged. So I would like to talk to your gastroenterologist to know why you have the persistent pain, once the cause is known, management would be accordingly then.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
