Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, I have a question, My boyfriend i m pretty sure has gential warts, is this curiable oncde removed or will he always carry the infection. how long after coming into contact with someone with the infection will they start to appear. We haven t slep together for about 4 months, i m worried that if he has cheated in the last four months I could possiabley get the infection.
The estimated incubation period from HPV infection to genital wart development is 2 weeks to 8 months, with the majority of genital warts appearing 2–3 months after an HPV infection
Hence if you have got HPV infection from your partner the genital warts can develop in you after 2-3 months, but can take even 8 months time
But its not necessary that if you had sexual encounter you have to develop warts. Warts occur only in 10% cases.
But you may also need to be careful about other sexually transmitted infections like Syphilis, Gonerrhoea and HIV/AIDS. Hence always insist your partner to wear condoms during sex.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
