Hello,

Short answer: There is no treatment for gestational diabetes!

Detailed answer: I read carefully your post and I understand completely your situation. However, your obgyn seems to be right; he is not ignoring or disregarding your complains but he is acting very carefully in order for you to succeed with your pregnancy.

Please note that medications that are allowed to be given to the mother during pregnancy are very limited because of possible effects on the fetus, and therefore you as a woman have to bear all the burden of this pregnancy.

Gestational diabetes, according to recent literature reviews and guidelines, increases the risk for diabetes later in life and therefore, after giving birth, you should be monitored regularly for detection of potential signs of diabetes in order to delay its onset and take all necessary measures.

For the time being, all you have to do is concentrate on your pregnancy and follow your obgyn advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
