How Can Hearing Loss Be Treated?

Hello and thank you for your time. My son who is 50 has had trouble with his ears. He said that when people talk the words sound robotic and according to the ENT s and hearing specialist, they believe he has a hearing loss from an autoimmune disease. I hav rheumatoid arthritis and my mother had Schleraderma. He had this problem right around the same time he came down with pheumonia. The doctors put him on 60 mg of prednisone and are going to decrease is after a certain time. He does not seem to be getting better and is thinking about going to Johns Hopkins to get another opinion Please help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you said that symptom its complication of his disease. In this case you cant cure that because this is chronic illness ,just your doctor will modified the dose of cortizon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
