Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I can t hear out of my right ear, sometimes it sounds like I m underwater and ringing. Also concerned it might be starting to affect my other ear. Also have nasal congestion. I m not in pain with a slight sore throat. I m most concerned about not being able to hear and the ringing.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hearing loss has to be evaluated thoroughly to find out the cause. Sinusitis and sore throat can cause transient and mild hearing loss because of the congestion of ear drums. Bit it won’t cause complete hearing loss. You have to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. You may require audiometric tests to assess the hearing and subsequent investigations based on the audiometer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
