Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 28 year old female who has recently been experiencing abnormal heart beat. My doctor had me on a stimulant but took me off b/c I began to experince palpations. He said that it should subside once coming off the medication and for the most part it did. I have been off the medication for a while but the it has begun again. I feel my heart almost get stuck then a big beat and then return to normal it can be one or a couple of big beats in a row, but once it starts it goes on till I fall asleep and I say asleep because it really only happens at night. After my day is done and I am at rest. It rarely happens or I rarely notice it during the day and if it does happen during the day it will be once and go away not a continued thing. What is going on?
It seems to be palpitation but it has to be confirmed by a cardiologist, you have not mentioned the clinical detail here, like what kind of abnormal heartbeat is there?
What medication you were given by your doctor, over history could be suggestive of anxiety.
If this is not the palpitation or any heart disease found out during testing, the abnormal beat can only be confirmed by EKG and ECHO, till then it may be due to anxiety and depression.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
