How Can Heart Screening Be Done?

I would like to know if my heart is strong... My father died from heart attack and had problems most of his adult life and I seem to take after him in many ways with my health but I don t know if I can just make an appointment with a cardiologist or should I do a screening?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Its always advised to have complete screening tests in people with family history of known heart diseases. The screening panel includes a baseline EKG,tread mill testing/TMT and a 2 dimensional echocardiography.Blood tests include complete lipid profile ,Serum Hs-Crp/c-reactive protein and complete blood counts. These tests are performed every 6 months on semi annual basis.Screening can largely reduce the incidence of complicating heart diseases.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you
