Hi I had a salpingectomy over a year ago. (Both tubes removed as a form of birth control) I have had very heavy periods till the last month. This month I had 2 periods. I have been having sharp pains that has increasingly gotten worse since surgery. I also have ache pains. This month I have had sharp and aches every day. In the area of both ovaries. Made worse with sex and physical activity, bowel movement and having to pee. I take Ibuprofen and with in a hour it is back. Sometimes I nearly can t walk. This is affecting my every day life.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain is most likely due to the adhesions formed after the surgery. However, other causes like endometriosis, adenomyosis and pelvic inflammatory disease should be ruled out by proper examination and ultrasound.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
