How Can Heavy Periods Due To Fibroids Be Treated?

I missed taking my birthcontrol pills and of course that brought on my period early. I tried taking the missed pills 9 days ago but it didnt't work. So now I have had my period for 10 days. It's drainng me. I'm going to try to go back on my pills on Sunday but I'm not sure this will work. Any recommendations? I have extremely heavy periods... because of fibroids.
