How Can Hernia Be Treated?

I was told by a GI physician s asst that I have a hernia - referring to the large stomach area above the waist? It protrudes and I can tighten it up like a muscle. Never heard of this??????????? She said that they do not remove a woman s like they do a man s. How can I reduce this big stomach? Will losing weight work? Thanks, Judy Hair
