I am a 46 year old him positive and herpes 1 , other wise healthy, active gay male. About 4-5 weeks ago, I noticed what seem to look like a rash on the back of both my calves. The odd thing about the rash is it seemed to be in a lined formation on one calf yet spiratic on the other. Within hours the rash was bright red, itching and stung/burned. By the time I got home, some had a water like substance and almost resembled a gentile herpes outbreak. I sought medical attention and was prescribed antibiotics and an ointment. The week prior to discovering the rash, I was training for my first full marathon and was a it stressed out and worried about the run and my performance. Having herpes 1, I ve experienced herpes breakouts right before or soon after a stressful event. As of Saturday evening, this rash flared up again, however with a vengeance. My calves are once again red, itching burning and it seems the rash now has much bigger water filled blisters. The surprising piece is, it seems to have spread to other parts of my leg. They remind me of a herpes filled with water , a bit of blood and pus. Should I seek treatment from my infectious deseases Doctor?
